Nine months ago, my 8-year-old Cairn Terrier mix William was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure and placed on a high dose of Lasix. Unfortunately, he remained on that dose for months without the routine blood monitoring that should have been standard protocol. About a month ago, William became severely lethargic and started losing muscle mass in his hind legs. When I requested a renal panel, his results showed an SDMA of 16, low potassium at 3.5, and a BUN of 28; clear indicators that he's dehydrating and entering early kidney failure from the prolonged Lasix dose.
I'm currently battling a severe autoimmune illness myself with zero income while applying for disability, and I've had to trust that proper care was being followed. After multiple visits and communication breakdowns, including being told to cut tiny pills into impossible fractions, and letting them know his resting heart rate is usually way above 30 to no avail; I no longer feel safe managing his complex condition at our current clinic.
William urgently needs a cardiology specialist. He's been referred to East Tennessee Veterinary Ultrasound for their Package #2, which includes a new echo cardiogram, chest X-rays, abdominal scan, and specialist consultation to safely adjust his medications. With a full blood panel, this totals approximately $1,200. At just 8 years old, William still has quality life ahead with proper specialist care. Every dollar goes directly to his treatment. Please help me save my best friend. He has such a big heart and it needs caring for.
The funds will be sent to this hospital for treatment
