My sweet Buttercup has been fighting for her life this past week. She's my beautiful orange tabby with one green eye and one blue eye, and she's been by my side for eight years. After battling chronic stomatitis and recovering from a full mouth extraction, my girl was just diagnosed with asthma. Then everything got worse—x-rays revealed a severe lung infection with dangerous fluid buildup in her lungs.

Buttercup has been hospitalized on oxygen therapy and IV antibiotics for seven days now. She arrived dehydrated and in pain, requiring subcutaneous fluids and pain medication just to keep her comfortable. She stopped eating, so her doctors added an appetite stimulant to her treatment. The x-rays even had to be sent out for specialist evaluation.

I miss her so much. My favorite thing in the world is when she curls up and sleeps on my chest, purring softly.
