Sage's Road to Recovery: Healing Hearts and Paws
Organized by

Our sweet Sage has been our constant companion and guardian for 9.5 years. She's the dog who grabs your hand when you stop petting her, turns into "Sage Rage" when the hose comes on, and once spent an entire afternoon at the dog park playing chase with a bird that flew circles above her – she finds friends everywhere she goes.
Last week, Sage ate a large amount of gravel from our pathway, which compacted in her stomach and small intestine. After initial hospitalization, it was shown that the gravel wouldn't pass naturally, so she underwent emergency surgery for removal. Now she's facing complications – her GI tract hasn't started moving again, and she's experiencing severe pain. The veterinarian is recommending continued IV fluids, IV pain medications, and placement of a nasogastric tube to remove excess fluid building up in her stomach.
As someone unable to have children, Sage and her sister are our world. We've already taken a second mortgage and maxed out credit cards, caring for our pets' ongoing health issues. With reduced insurance coverage and mounting medical bills totaling $11,051.21, we're reaching out for help to bring our beloved girl home.
***Update*** Sage has finally been able to come home! She still has a long road ahead, but at least she can be home with us to get better. The medical bills are still extensive, and we still need help.
***Update- 12/9/25*** Sage had a rough weekend at home. She had profuse diarrhea and required lots of nursing care at home. We started her on metronidazole to help with her diarrhea and Entyce to help with her appetite. This morning, she stopped eating. We brought her back to the hospital, and it is suspected that her GI tract isn't moving as it should, so we have had to make several adjustments to her medications and are trying some injectable medications at home to keep her out of the hospital. She is much brighter today and wagged her tail for the doctors and nurses. So we are hopeful we can get her through this with a little more care.
***Update 12/13/25*** Miss Sage has been showing some improvement! She has started eating much better for us and is much brighter than she has been. We are all exhausted from giving her round-the-clock care, but we are optimistic that we are through the critical stages. She is still having diarrhea, and we have had to refill more medications at the hospital, adding to our mounting medical bills for her. It is slowly improving, and hopefully, with some additional supportive care, she can return to normal. She has been grabbing our hands for more scratches on her neck and giving us lots of kisses, which is such a relief to see.
The funds will be sent to this hospital for treatment
